Making yet another gesture of goodwill and reconciliation, Army troops serving the Security Force Headquarters-Jaffna offered their manpower and built a pre-school building with sponsorship, provided by South Koreans on the request of Venerable Banagala Upathissa Nayake Thero, Chief Sangha Nayake of Japan and Incumbent, Agrashrawaka Maha Vihara in Colombo 10.
The new project at Siththankerni village, Jaffna was named after â€˜Park Joonho International Kindergartenâ€™ as a tribute to the sponsors, Mr. Park Joohno and Mrs. Park Suk Ja of South Korea and their fellow-donors.
The pre-school, a long-felt need for parents and kids in that area was made a reality through the initiatives, taken by the Commander Security Forces â€“ Jaffna (SF-J), Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi who took up the issue with the visiting Buddhist monk some time ago. It was vested in the civilians during a ceremony on Tuesday (18).
Hon. State Minister of Education, Dr. V S Radhakrishnan as the Chief Guest opened the new building. Hon. Minister of Education of Tamil Nadu K A Sengottaiyan, Commander Security Forces â€“ Jaffna (SF-J), Major General Darshana Hettiarrachchi and a large gathering of civilians, state officials and Army personnel were present during the opening ceremony.
