The Delimitation Committee Report is to be handed over to the subject Minister today despite it not receiving the signature of the UNP committee member.
Committee Chairman Asoka Peiris yesterday announced that the report would be handed over to Local Government and Provincial Councils Minister Faiszer Mustapha today, although the UNP committee member has still not signed the report.
Earlier the Minister refused to accept the report of the commission as it did not have the signatures of two of the commission’s members. Mustapha refused to accept the report when Peiris attempted to hand over the report in the presence of the media, prompting the latter to issue a statement warning against using the commission for political gains.
Although several subsequent announcements were made about the handover of the report, it is yet to be officially accepted by the Minister.
