Monaragala District United National Party (UNP) MP Ananda Kumarasiri was elected as the Deputy Speaker following a secret ballot held in Parliament this evening.
MP Kumarasiri garnered 97 votes while UPFA MP Sudarshani Fernandopulle garnered only 53 votes. (YP and AS)
