Sri Lanka Navy nabs three persons with 111 kg of Kerala Cannabis

Feb 11, Colombo: Sri Lankan Navy personnel with the assistance of the Police today have arrested three people with 111 kilograms of Kerala Cannabis in two separate occasions.

Acting on intelligence information received, Naval personnel attached to SLNS Gajaba located in Mannar belonging to the North Central Naval Command in coordination with the Mannar Police, during a search today (11), apprehended two suspects transporting 110 kg of Kerala Cannabis by a van in Mannar.

The suspects along with the stock of cannabis were handed over to the Mannar Police for onward legal action.

In a separate incident, naval personnel attached to SLNS Thambapanni in Puttalam with the assistance of the Puttalam Police, nabbed another person for transporting 1 kg of Kerala Cannabis using a motorcycle, during a search carried out in Puttalam yesterday (10).

The suspect and the contraband were handed over to the Puttalam Police for further investigations.
